IS THAT REFERENCING ANYTHING SPECIFIC?!?!?! BECAUSE I WILL THROW DOWN!!!
Oh wait, they didn't make it to the championship.
And Stephen, is it worse to lose on a national stage in a blowout, or by a a point or two?
You know, I'll answer this in reference to college basketball, since that's all in which I really am vested.
When you get to the national championship, usually your top players leave for the NBA...and then you have to spend time rebuilding (you know, unless you're Roy). If that weren't the case, I'd rather get there and lose than not at all.
Like last year. I'm not happy with that game. I think I lost a few months off my life...but I'm ok with it BECAUSE they stayed. I would have been pissed if they'd gone pro. Then I would rather we'd have won it then.
THIS year though...THIS YEAR...I won't have to worry about it!!!
YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST!
GO HEELS
(I've now turned two of my answers into Carolina shout-outs...whatcha gonna do about it?!)
I would rather my team lose by a point or two than get completely blown out. Granted, that means plenty of time thinking "what if" afterwards; but still, I feel like getting blown out calls the accomplishments of your entire season into question.
(when I wrote my first response, I actually was thinking about Ohio State getting blown out in their BCS games and making the entire Big Ten look terrible)
