...can you tell me why the base of the fingernail (the lunula) is whiter than the nail plate? If yes, why? If not, take a guess.

Kelly Byers said...: because it isn't attached to the nail bed/skin (I think these are basically the same thing) yet. I know this because I recently went to the doctor because I thought that I had some fungus on my big toes (which may be why I wash my feet with such fervor), but the doctor said I didn't have a fungus and that my toes have experienced trauma which caused the nail to separate.; December 3, 2009 at 1:44 AM
