When passing strangers...

...say on the street, do you make eye contact, or ignore them completely, or look at them while avoiding eye contact, or wait and see what they will do and follow suite, or etc...? Obviously it depends on situation and stranger, but generally, how do you respond?

such a great question. i'd say usually i follow suite with what the stranger does but get upset when they don't say hello. i try to say hello as often as possible and definitely try to make eye contact, but some people just won't have it.
